Due to her amazing overall defensive abilities, Chansey is by far the sturdiest Wish user in the entire game. The Egg Pokemon is capable of passing 352 HP Wishes to her teammates; this will completely rejuvenate the health of any Pokemon with up to a base 105 HP stat (provided said Pokemon lacks EV investment in HP).

In the second slot, you must choose between Protect and Softboiled. Though Protect allows Chansey to stall more effectively with Toxic - while simultaneously allowing her to heal herself with guaranteed Wishes - Softboiled can be used if you want Chansey to be able to heal her own HP on the spot. Seismic Toss is utilized so that Chansey can reliably deal damage to all opposing Pokemon who aren't Ghost-types, while Toxic enables Chansey to slowly wear down foes over time. Toxic is especially good since it works wonderfully in tandem with Wish and Protect, allowing Chansey to drain the HP of opposing Pokemon much more effectively.

The given EV spread grants Chansey better overall physical Defense than 252 HP / 252 Def Relaxed Swampert, something that Blissey is certainly unable to pull off. Despite the fact that this set lacks any investment on the special side, the above spread also grants Chansey better overall Special Defense than 252 HP / 252 Def Bold Blissey; in fact, its defensive capabilities are nearly identical to those of 252 Def / 252 SpD Calm Blissey, who was once considered the epitome of a special wall. However, the extra focus on Defense that this set utilizes allows Chansey to take physical blows considerably better than Blissey. Investing in more Special Defense would be a waste of Chansey's all-around walling potential, so stick with the listed EV spread.

Due to Chansey's ability to pass immense Wishes to her teammates, Pokemon who can take advantage of said Wishes are typically the best partners for her. Some of the best teammates for Chansey are Choice users, as these Pokemon typically don't carry any recovery moves of their own. Choice Band Scizor is especially good in this regard, as he can utilize Chansey's gigantic Wishes to switch in many, many times throughout the match and fire off his powerful STAB U-turn. Additionally, Scizor can use Pursuit to rid the opposing team of any Ghost-types who would otherwise cause big problems for Chansey. Speaking of Ghost-types, they are Chansey's worst enemy, capable of absorbing Seismic Toss thanks to their immunity; Ghost-types who pack Substitute are particularly troublesome, as they can block Toxic. Ghost-types carrying Taunt will wreck Chansey completely, ensuring that she is completely helpless against them. In order to deal with Ghost-types, Pursuit users -- such as the aforementioned Scizor -- can be employed. While Chansey is very bulky, powerful physical Fighting-type hits will still be able to take her down. For this reason, packing a teammate capable of taking on Fighting-types is recommended. Gliscor is a great choice thanks to its fantastic physical Defense and resistance to Fighting-type attacks; Gyarados is also an excellent teammate in this sense.

Chansey's stat distribution is seemingly perfectly built to abuse Counter. Thanks to the Egg Pokemon's huge HP and Eviolite-boosted Defense, little physical dents in Chansey will quickly be bounced back to create huge holes in the opponent's physical attackers. Here's how this set works: switch Chansey in on a physical attacker who won't be able to OHKO her right off the bat. Then, when the opposing Pokemon uses a physical attack, Chansey can bounce the attack straight back for double damage, hopefully netting a KO in the process.

Softboiled is the preferred recovery move on this set, as Chansey's moveslots are much more limited than they are on the first set. However, Wish can be used if you want to play a bit more dangerously with Chansey. Chansey can use Wish before the opposing Pokemon attacks her -- or if they can't 2HKO her -- to restore 50% of her health while still bouncing back physical attacks with Counter. While this strategy seems far superior to simply using Softboiled, Softboiled lets Chansey restore 50% of her health on the spot, making it the more reliable, consistent option. Seismic Toss and Toxic are used so that Chansey can still damage special attackers. Seismic Toss is the better option against offensive special attackers, such as Latios, while Toxic is more useful against defensive ones, such as Jellicent.

While the given EV spread may not look optimal for a Pokemon set on abusing Counter, Chansey needs all the physical Defense she can get her hands on, as this set is completely reliant on being able to take repeated physical hits. If you don't invest fully in Chansey's physical bulk, she won't be able to take on nearly as many physical attackers. When Chansey is at full health, she can Counter almost any physical attack in the game. Even a STAB Close Combat requires a massive 447 Attack stat (or 344 with a Life Orb) to OHKO the Egg Pokemon, making Chansey extremely durable and dangerous.

Unlike a typical Chansey who is focused on supporting her teammates, this variant attempts to rack up surprise KOs on opposing Pokemon with Counter. For this reason, Stealth Rock support is actually greatly appreciated, as this makes the amount of damage that Chansey must sustain in order to achieve a KO a bit smaller. Similarly, Spikes support is also helpful, although not as consistently useful as Stealth Rock. In order to set up the aforementioned hazards, certain teammates should be employed; Gliscor is a top-notch choice to set up Stealth Rock due to its Fighting-type resistance - though Poison Heal Gliscor is incapable of learning Stealth Rock - while Spikes can be provided by Skarmory (or, if you don't mind the Fighting-type weakness it shares with Chansey, Ferrothorn). Once again, Ghost-types, especially Gengar, will completely shut Chansey down. In order to deal with these pesky poltergeists, a Pursuit user can be employed. Scizor is a great choice, as is Tyranitar.

    Altre Opzioni

Like most Normal-types, Chansey has an extensive movepool. Thunder Wave can be used over Toxic for paralysis support, but beware that by ditching Toxic, Chansey loses her main weapon against walls, especially defensive Ghost-types. Stealth Rock can be used over Toxic or Protect if you lack a Pokemon to set it up on your team. Heal Bell is a possibility if you want a Cleric; additionally, it works well alongside Wish, as a combination of the two can essentially fully heal any teammate. Chansey has access to a wide variety of special attacks, but her terrible Special Attack stat makes these moves poor options in any situation.

    Controlli e Counters

Ghost-types who carry Substitute and can outspeed Chansey are outstanding counters to her, because she cannot touch them since Toxic and Seismic Toss are her only effective means of dealing damage. Taunt users, such as Whimsicott, can screw up Wish Chansey pretty badly. Gengar is a particularly worrisome Taunt user, as it is also immune to Seismic Toss and Toxic. Despite Chansey's titanic defensive capabilities, physical Fighting-type attacks will still deal catastrophic damage to her, though few are capable of OHKOing the Egg Pokemon. Wobbuffet can completely ruin Chansey through Encore, allowing at least one Pokemon on your team a free turn of setup.

    Mondo Dei Sogni

Chansey's Dream World ability, Healing Heart, is completely useless in Single Battles, and can only be utilized effectively in Multi-Battles. Even then, Chansey isn't a particularly good Pokemon to use in Multi-Battles due to their fast-paced nature. Additionally, Healing Heart is incompatible with all of Chansey's moves from generations 3 and 4, making it a terrible option overall; always utilize Natural Cure when using Chansey.
