Dunsparce may not look like much, but with this set he can cause some extreme frustration. Pick your poison for your paralyzing move: Body Slam deals pretty good damage and paralyzes 60% of the time, but Thunder Wave will always paralyze as long as you're not using it on a Ground-type Pokémon. Glare is an option for a slightly more reliable paralysis over Body Slam, but usually the 15% difference isn't worth the lack of offensive power.

From there, start flinching things to death. If you attack your foe with a flinching move when it is paralyzed, it only has a 30% chance of hitting Dunsparce back. Headbutt will be your main attack, Rock Slide is for Fliers and Bite is for Ghosts. Earthquake is an alternative for some of these tough Rock and/or Steel guys, common in both standard play (if you're using Dunsparce for the sheer cool factor) and UU.

This set makes me feel all fuzzy just thinking about it. Thunder has a 60% paralysis chance (42% if you factor in its shaky accuracy) and Ice Beam will freeze things 20% of the time. Counter will be very helpful if your opponent sends in something physical to deal with Dunsparce when you're Calm Minding, in which case he will not only be fun to use but actually get a kill in. Water Pulse has a pretty good 40% confusion rate which works nicely with paralysis, but of course you can't ignore AncientPower either. A 20% chance of seeing Dunsparce's stats skyrocket is just too great to completely ignore.

The same as above, except that Calm Mind and Thunder have been combined into one slot as Charge Beam. Whenever it hits (which is 90% of the time), Dunsparce gets a free Special Attack boost. Counter is not as appealing as in the previous set, but still worthwhile. Everything else has been discussed.

    Other Options

Roost would be useful if Dunsparce could live long enough to utilize it effectively, but as it is it just limits his versatility. Screech and Yawn can be pretty neat with Spikes or Stealth Rock up, and Pursuit works in tandem with it. Dunsparce learns Stealth Rock himself, and he will probably be able to set it up, but there's better Pokémon for it. Endeavor and Flail can work if you've paralyzed your opponent, as Dunsparce is too slow to use them on his own. Gyro Ball works on fast stuff, most notably Gengar in standard. Fire Blast, Flamethrower and Shadow Ball are alternative special attacks. 20% burn for the former two and a 40% chance for a Special Defense drop are nothing to sniff at. Finally, there's the interesting Magic Coat, which can be great to catch your opponent off-guard and to protect yourself from being paralyzed, Leech Seeded or otherwise hindered.

    Evs

Max out the attacking stat you're using for Dunsparce. His most efficient defensive distribution comes down to 144 HP / 36 Def / 76 SpD, and it definitely gives better results than just maxing out HP and putting that one point somewhere else.

    Opinione

Dunsparce is a very, very cool concept of a Pokémon. He usually doesn't do much, dies to hard hits and Toxic all the time, but if it weren't for his crappy stat distribution he'd be the single best Serene Grace abuser of all times. He has so many tools to toy with and is one of the very few Pokémon that can force luck instead of just praying for it. His movepool is gorgeous and while he clearly isn't the best at winning matches without quite a bit of aid from Lady Luck, he automatically grants your team infinite cool points. Whether you're looking for something colorful and interesting to work with, you're into calculating your chances of winning or you just want to have a load of fun playing Pokémon, Dunsparce is for you. Make full use of Serene Grace and he'll be happy.

    Counter

As Dunsparce's most standard set is the flinching one, one would say prevention of paralysis is the best way of beating it. Of course, the only Pokémon with Limber (Ditto, Persian and Hitmonlee) have wet-cardboard-like Defense, so this is harder than it looks. A Ground Pokémon that can take a few beatings from Dunsparce's pretty average Attack like Quagsire, Gastrodon or Sandslash could at least absorb Thunder Waves, and they can also do well against his other two sets. Basically, anything that resists Headbutt is a counter as Dunsparce will hardly be able to scratch them. Plus, nearly everything that resists Headbutt can take a dozen hits from everything else Dunsparce has got and doesn't mind paralysis much (Aerodactyl can go cry in a corner). Status in any form or shape stops Dunsparce. Something immensely powerful from either side of the spectrum will stop him dead in his tracks too. Dunsparce is slow and his defenses are only average, so he won't live through more than one hit from some firm sweeper, be it in standard or lower tier play.
